Personal Portraits

Sandy Stetzer, a new addition to the WiSSP circle of friends, is Regional Satellite Coordinator, in the Wausau office, for the Wisconsin Sudden Infant Death Center of the Children’s Service Society. A long time resident of Wausau, Sandy graduated from the U.W.-Stevens Point in 1993 with a B.S. degree in Psychology. Her professional commitment to serve families whose infants have died suddenly and unexpectedly has a personal side as well; she and her husband experienced the stillbirth of their son Samuel almost 6 years ago.

After Samuel’s death, Sandy found that support resources were not readily available or offered, and that she "didn’t feel justified in saying it hurt."

It became her goal, with the support of her husband, Greg, who is a mechanic and video producer, to establish a pregnancy/infant loss program in the north region, so that there could be "a safe place for parents to feel their pain."

Together with their 7 year old twin boys, Nick and Nate, and 20 month old son, Ken, Sandy and Greg are avid campers, and almost every other weekend from April to October will find them traveling north to enjoy this family activity. And if there is any time to spare, with three young children, reading is another activity Sandy very much enjoys.
