ABOUT WISSP

Candlelight Around the World

The Compassionate Friends once again invites people around the world to light a candle in memory of the life and death of a child. The candle should be lit on Sunday, December 12 at 7:00 PM.

As candles burn down in one time zone, they will be lit in the next, thus circling the globe and creating a 24 hour remembrance of children who have died.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month

October, 1988, was the first official Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, as proclaimed by then President Ronald Reagan. Since then, memorial activities have provided comfort to countless families who have suffered the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or other death. The activities vary from one location to another, but have included such events as balloon releases, walks to remember, and candle lighting ceremonies as described in one of our guest articles.

If you planned or participated in any activities during a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, we would love to hear about the experience.
